Bullitzer Upload Detailed Instructions

Bullitzer Home

NOTE: You must use Internet Explorer for this uploading process to work correctly.  Firefox, Opera, and Safari users often experience errors!

1.  Go to the Bullitzer Upload page.  To get there, you can click here (opens in new window), or you can get there from scratch:

    • Go to http://collegewriting.us.
    • Click "Bullitzer," either on the top menu bar or in the list of Program Publications.  This will take you to the Bullitzer home page, but not the upload page.
    • Then click the image that says, "Click here to submit your essay," which will take you to the upload page

2.  Click "Sign In" in the upper-right-hand corner.  You will see a box like this appear:

3.  Type the User Name and Password you received from your instructor exactly as they appear in the information he or she gave you.  If you fail to type these exactly, you will not be able to log in.  Be sure to pay attention to capitalization, which direction slashes are going (\, not /), and don’t forget any other punctuation!  (If you have not been given a user name and password, contact your instructor.  Remember that the Bullitzer essays must be nominated by instructors before students upload them.)

4.  Click “OK.”  If you’ve succeeded in getting this far, you’ll see in the top right, “Welcome USF2008.”

5.  Toward the bottom of the page, click “Upload,” and then select “Upload Document” from the drop-down menu.

6.  On the new screen, click “Browse” and find the essay file that you are submitting for consideration.  Only upload files that are .doc, .docx, or .rtf format.  If you upload a .wps or .odt file, your essay will not be considered for the prize.

Important: In your document, you must also replace your name with your U#. Bullitzer essays are graded blindly; the judges must not know your name.

7.  Click “OK.”  This will take you to the following page:

8.  On this page, type the following information in the correct spot:

  • The name of the file (not your name)
  • Your USF e-mail address
  • Your U#, including the U
  • Select the category for which you are submitting this assignment—either the Best Blog award, Best ENC 1102 Online essay, or the specific assignment your essay fulfills.
  • Your instructor’s name
  • Select the semester that you took the class for which you wrote this essay (for example, Fall 2009).
  • Select “Yes” or “No” for the Policy Acceptance.  Selecting Yes signifies that you have read and agree to the language on the main Bullitzer upload page (see #1 above to find that page).
  • Type the title of your essay, if applicable.

9.  Click “Check In.”

10.  You did it!  You should now see your uploaded essay in the list of submitted essays at the bottom of the screen!
