Creating New Projects for FYC

Creating New Projects for 1101 and 1102

Dear Colleagues,

We invite you to contribute writing projects for use by our ENC 1101 and 1102 students. Writing projects should meet one of the general education perspectives:

  • Global Context

  • Historical Context and Process

  • Environmental Perspectives

  • Human and Cultural Diversity

  • Ethical Perspectives

  • Inter-relationships among Disciplines

Note: While we seek projects that introduce students to the conventions of writing in different academic disciplines, projects should be general enough that all students can complete them.

You can learn about general education @ USF by visiting the following sites:

      General Education Council
      General Education Information Page

Along with the general education focus, writing projects should follow the curriculum of the 1101 and 1102 classes:

1101 - Projects are reflective, informative and analytical; all projects require an annotated bibliography
1102 - Projects are persuasive/argumentative; all projects require an annotated bibliography

Please use the following templates when compiling a project for submission to FYC:

  •  1101 Project Template

  •  1102 Project Template

Complete every category for the project and also create some type of lesson plan for the project to be introduced, taught, and completed.  Give some indication of how this project would be categorized (i.e. Project 1, 2, or 3).  Once you have finished creating your project, submit it to the Director of FYC; the project will be discussed by the Policy Committee for appropriateness and implementation.
