Welcome to the site of the Bullitzer Prize, an annual collection of the best essays written by students in first-year composition courses (ENC 1101 and ENC 1102) at the University of South Florida. Students may submit essays written for either class class or a series of their most engaging blog/discussion board posts written for class (copied into a single document for uploading).
Our submission cycle is governed by calendar year, not school year. Therefore, essays written for courses in Spring 2008 and Fall 2008 will be considered for a single prize book to be published in Spring 2009. Submissions are due by the last day that instructors submit grades each semester; in Fall 2008, submissions are due by December 16, 2008.
All students are encouraged to submit by clicking the image above! Students with questions about the prize should ask their instructor. All other questions can be submitted to Professor Kim Murray at kmurray@cas.usf.edu.
