What is SANC Number?
SANC Number :
** Each nurse is uniquely identified on the eRegister by means of his or her South African Nursing Council (SANC) Number.
** This number consists of eight digits and always starts with a “1”.
** The SANC Number is quoted as the reference number in all correspondence from the Nursing Council and is also used as an account number for financial transactions.
** The SANC Number is the ONLY way that all practitioners can be positively identified in the eRegister.
SA Identity Number :
** The eRegister contains the SA Identity Number of over 95% of practitioners – those who have provided certified copies of their identity documents to the Nursing Council.
** Unfortunately, some foreign nurses do not have SA identity documents while some other nurses still have to submit the relevant copies.
** So this information is NOT complete.
** If you fail to trace a practitioner using an SA Identity Number, please try to establish his or her SANC Number.
** Each practitioner should be able to provide you with this number.
FAQ On eRegister
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) On eRegister
Why can’t I search the eRegister by name?
The register of nurses and midwives has a very high incidence of duplicate names. Particularly in cases where there is only one given name there can be many duplicate entries. It is therefore impossible to always get a positive match based on names alone.
Why does the practitioner’s ID number sometimes not display on the eRegister?
The practitioner’s South African Identity Number will ONLY be displayed if you requested the record using the ID number.
To protect the person’s personal information, the practitioner’s ID number will not be displayed if you do not have access to it already.
Introduction :

Some Important Information From Comments
Comments:
1. I registered and paid already to add Qualifications for nursing administration, community nursing and nursing education. I didn’t receive my SANC registration certificates, I checked on eRegister, only registered for nursing administration.
2. I have registered on 18th September 1979. Category is General Nurse and Midwife. Would it be possible to obtain a certified copy of this certificate? Where could I request a copy of the curriculum of this integrated course?
3. I have paid for a registration for additional qualification after completed nursing education and health service management with UNISA, I haven’t heard a response from SANC. When trying to check with eRegister, my name doesn’t appear. It states that it doesn’t match.
4. Why is SANC not available in all provinces? We struggle and the solution is often far away. We also hold for a long time when trying to make a call. In conclusion, I think the electronic system that deals with payments of annual license fees needs to be upgraded. The system missed to notice my split payment and until to date my license is not uploaded.
5. I registered in December and paid the amount of R340 for the Enrolled Nurse. I again deposited the amount of R30 in January . The reason why my registration was separated is because I do not get the reminders from SANC for almost two years. I have to ask from people the amount for registration. Now I found that my name is removed from roll. Can you please reinstate my name?
Information:
Most of the commenters commented that, they paid for SANC Registration but not received the Certificate.
